Spring Has Sprung!

The chill of Canada’s crisp winter air is starting to fade, and the sun is peeking through the trees more and more. We’re finally feeling spring waking up from its winter slumber! This means it’s time to get outside, enjoy the changing weather, and have some outdoor fun! Continue reading for some inclusive, creative, and fun spring activities that anyone can do!

Have a Picnic:

Gather up a picnic basket and head to your local park with a friend to enjoy the warmer weather. You can choose the perfect location, spread open a blanket or towel to sit on, and enjoy a healthy lunch! The best picnic foods are the ones you make yourself; pack a few sandwiches, some water, fruit, cookies, or anything else you enjoy. Picnics are a great way to relax and socialize with your friends, explore the outdoors, and enjoy a meal in the beautiful spring weather.

Go on a Nature Walk:

Whether at the park or on a local trail, you can have lots of fun going on a calming nature walk. Stop to observe all that the environment has to offer. Take notice of any wildlife or plants you see and be sure to take a few pictures of the beautiful scenery. You can even turn your walk into a game! Make a list of everything you might expect to see on a nature walk and check how many you actually find! You might be surprised by how much you will see when you take a moment to look and listen.

Take up Gardening:

Even if you don’t think you have a green thumb, engaging in a hands-on gardening project can be a fantastic way to reconnect with Mother Earth. Getting out in nature, working with the soil, and cultivating a plant is an amazing way to develop a sense of responsibility, self-awareness, and patience. It’s such a rewarding experience to watch the plants you have nurtured develop and thrive. With Earth Day approaching on April 22, now is the perfect time to give back to nature!
