"We were honoured to collaborate with Best Buddies Canada to implement the inaugural Canadian Best Buddies Friendship Walk in September 2024 in Kingston, Ontario. As the largest Best Buddies university chapter in Canada, Queen’s Best Buddies was excited to see our efforts come together at the Walk, where we connected with buddies and peer buddies from different chapters in Kingston. The event fostered awareness about inclusion and accessibility while also forming meaningful connections with local community members, organizations, and businesses. The smiles and joy on everyone’s faces said it all— the day was a true celebration. We are now excited to be planning our 2025 Friendship Walk this September.

Join us and lead a Friendship Walk in your community—it’s one of the BEST things we’ve done as a Chapter!"

bEST BUDDIES CANADA
friendship WALK 2024

The inaugural Best Buddies Canada Friendship Walk was hosted in Kingston, Ontario at Lake Ontario Place on September 29th, 2024. The event brought together over 150 walkers, sponsors, and donors from the Kingston community, who all rallied together to show their support for a worthy cause!

Thanks to the incredible support of our Best Buddies community, the event raised more than $11,800 to benefit individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Canada!

We are especially proud of the community spirit that the Friendship Walk inspired. Families, friends, and supporters came together, walking side by side, creating meaningful connections and proving that together, we can create lasting change.

At the heart of the Best Buddies Friendship Walk is the idea that true friendship transcends differences. The connections formed through the Best Buddies program have a transformative effect, not only on the individuals involved but also on their families, friends, and broader communities. For many, the walk was a chance to celebrate these relationships and raise awareness about the importance of inclusion in all aspects of life.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers, team leaders, and sponsors, whose dedication and hard work made this event such a success!
